Darlington’s Food & Drink Festival 2019

On  Saturday we decided to head into Darlington to visit the Food & Drink Festival, we visited last year when the weather was a little kinder and had a great time. You can read about that here.

We parked up in one of the car parks on the outskirts of town that offered 2 hours of free parking, I put in £1 to take the parking up to 3 hours (I wish I had put longer on though). It was a short walk until we came across the first few food stalls involved in the festival. One of the stalls caught Willow’s eye straight away, who can blame her the cupcakes looked divine! A great price too at £1 each.

We had arrived early in the day meaning we could browse at ease and have a good look at the lunch options for later in the Market Square from the street food vendors. It wasn’t long before we came across some of the entertainment, the girls loved watching them and I even caught Lily having a little dance along when an Abba song was used in the mix. You can see a little clip of the performers in the video below.

We followed them inside the Indoor Market where the girls could decorate a cupcake with Junior Kitchen, they also decided to give the Big Cow Hunt a go too. You have to walk around the stall inside and outside of the Indoor Market searching for the hidden cows. We didn’t manage to finish it as lunchtime beckoned and so did the parking limit!

We headed back down into the Market Square to grab some lunch. With so much choice and the sun shining it took a little while to decide and grab a seat, but it was worth the wait.

Throughout the weekend there has been lots of entertainment for all the family.  I may even have to pop back down tomorrow as I have noticed a few different activities are on for the children including a chance to make your own cardboard guitar and join in singing songs with Big Little Gigs. You can find out more information about the Food & Drink Festival from the organisers Darlington Markets here.

Did you get along this weekend to enjoy Darlington’s Food & Drink Festival? If so what did you love? If not don’t worry you can still get along tomorrow!!
