It’s December and time to get fully into the Christmas spirit with my two girls, as December is the truly the most magical month of the year!
We started to celebrate the festive season by driving up the A1 to the Baltic in Gateshead on Saturday for the Winter Woodland event as we were kindly asked to review this festive event for the Baltic so received complimentary tickets.
The Winter Woodland is located on level 2 within the Baltic and is a ticketed event, we line up and its clear from the interaction from the elves the girls are in for a treat. The elves start off introducing themselves before we move over to a large area set out for the crafts, the girls begin getting creative making two Christmas tree decorations the elves are interacting with all the children going around the tables seeing who would like any help and chatting to them all. The girls made a robin and a fox each which now have taken pride of place on our Christmas Tree there were plenty of materials out for the girls to use.
They then got to play with the elves in the snow room enjoying playful snowball fights, and building ice walls, the elves were brilliant with all the children attending playing along in the games and staying in character. I must admit I loved this room and getting to join in with a snowball fight with Chestnut the elve and Willow. All of the children also got to join in with a 12 Days of Christmas sing-along whilst settling down for a hot chocolate with marshmallows in the woodland area, the elves encouraged the children to think of new words to go into the song making it a unique song for the group attending. It was great fun hearing the children all thinking of things that rhyme and watch the elves trying to remember all the new movements for the song, a huge well done to them they thoroughly entertained my two. The winter woodland area is beautifully done with wood chip down on the ground and the lovely little cushions for the children to sit on whilst enjoying the tasty hot chocolate. The elves then finish off the morning as they go about their special Christmas gift-giving and the children receive a gift and reindeer food to take home. The little bags were lovely and the gifts were perfectly themed with the winter woodland.
