The Victorian Sweet Shop at Preston Park Museum

I know many of us may well have over indulged over the festive period but you would struggle not to be tempted by the choice of delicious sweets on offer at Preston Park Museum and Grounds newest addition.

The new Sweet shop opened it’s doors in October moving from the kiosk as you first entered the street to its new location next to Lamb’s toy Shop within the beautiful replica Victorian Street.

With rows and rows of your old favourites lining the back wall you really are spoilt for choice.

The sweets are priced at 50p for 2oz and £1 for a quarter so it’s not going to break the bank either.

The street transports you back to 1895 and with chances to dress up, play the street games or just sit back with a hot drink in the tea room and enjoy watching everyone immerse themselves in the fun whilst also being educated on what life was like in 1895.

Whilst we visited today the volunteers were brilliant with Willow, one of the ladies in the sweet shop noticed she was carrying her teddy and made a fuss of the panda teddy even giving it a cuddle, the little touches that make me smile and want to visit more, each time I have visited I’ve always found the volunteers great with the girls and we always come away having learnt something new about life in 1895.

It’s the perfect time to visit as well, the museum today was quite there where times we had the street to ourselves which means lots of room to enjoy the Victorian street games.
