We had a brilliant Woodland Adventure at the luxurious Rockliffe Hall Hotel, the girls devoured snails, hedgehogs and even fairies! The themed afternoon tea is as delicious, as delightful for the children this summer. With a selection of sandwiches shaped as fairies and sweet treats such as wriggly worms in mud, macaroon edible snails and toadstool cake pops the girls faces lit up when it arrived at the table.
Admiring the stunning setting of the Clubhouse (a short walk, a few minutes at most, from the main hotel), my friend Lauren and I also enjoyed a delightful selection of homemade cakes and sandwiches in this relaxed and family-friendly location.
- A delicious selection of finger sandwiches (crust-less of course)
- Homemade scones with clotted cream and jam (The scones ‘wow’, just huge.)
- A selection of homemade cakes and sweet treats
We thoroughly enjoyed it all and couldn’t even manage to finish having to take home a couple of the freshly baked scones. The service was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble.
At Rockliffe Hall Hotel as a dining guest you have the added extra of being able to enjoy Misch Masch, the girls slid down the rabbit hole into the fun themed adventure playground inspired by Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll. Having visited for Afternoon Tea here at Halloween last year the girls couldn’t wait to play again at Misch Masch.
We felt so relaxed our whole visit in this beautiful setting, enjoyed playing the lawn games, searching for all of the fairy doors on the Enchanted Woodland Trail. Lauren who joined us for this lovely afternoon at Rockliffe Hall didn’t want to give up the search until we found them all hidden amongst the trees, who said these things are just for kids!
We ended our visit with laughter and squeals of excitement as the girls had a run around on the huge splash pad! Nestled between the wildflower field and the Misch Masch park whilst overlooked by the stunning Looking Glass House.

If you follow my stories over on my Instagram you will have seen whilst at Rockliffe we also got a sneak peek inside two of The Curious Cabins the perfect place to unwind.
The Curious cabins are only available to book a time slot in if you are a guest staying in the hotel. Rockliffe Hall Hotel and Spa really does have families in mind for staying here, we had an hour in The Comet first before our Afternoon Tea, this cabin comes complete with a pool table, tv and plenty of luxurious looking high bar stools. The girls, whilst not the best players of Pool, had lots of fun trying not to pot the white! We put on the radio via the tv and had a great time playing and lots of laughter whilst in the hut.
After our Afternoon tea, we were given the key for the second cabin which was The Star, inside of The Star you have a large screen TV and we were given a pin code to watch any movie we like from the choices on the screen. It didn’t take long for the girls to spot Grease and we enjoyed a little singalong in the cabin, we didn’t manage to watch it all as the girls wanted to enjoy outside whilst the sun made a rare appearance that day. It was a great place to relax and let the scrumptious afternoon tea settle!
Rockliffe Hall is a five-star luxury golf and spa hotel offering state-of-the-art spa treatments, boasting the North East’s longest world-class golf course and a wide range of dining options. Family stays are sure to be a hit here with three nights for the price of two offer over on the hotel’s website which can be found here. With lots of great offers and events within the Spa and also a new dining experience High Tea in The Orangery, so it’s worth keeping an eye on the website. I for one have already put the award-winning spa on my Bucket List.
